Aberdeen

Settled between the rivers Dee and Don, Aberdeen is Scotland's third largest city, situated in the north east of the country. The 'Granite City' is so called as many of its building are built from the locally quarried grey granite form the now close (and recently sold) Rubislaw. Since the discovery of oil in the north sea, Aberdeen become the hub of operations, earning the new name of the Oil Capital of Europe.
Traditionally, Aberdeen was build on fishing, textiles and paper making but today, other than oil, the city has become a centre for new technologies and research. The city boast two renowned universities of Aberdeen and Robert Gordon's and has one of the largest student populations in Scotland. The retail sector in Aberdeen is also strong, recently boosted by the opening of Union Square.
